Our passion for researching original solutions and new approaches to marble prompted us to widen our horizons. So we set up our new brand, Marsotto LAB: an innovative platform that will enable talented aspiring designers to express futuristic and unpublished ideas.
For its first edition Marsotto LAB entrusted the project development to ECAL/Ecole cantonale d’art de Lausanne, the Swiss art school that ranks among the world’s most prestigious and famous.
Over the years the ECAL University has developed important collaborations with other renowned international schools and such leading entrepreneurial names as Alessi, Vacheron Constantin, Galeries Lafayette, Hermes, Hublot, Nespresso, etc.
The students at the Master in Design for Luxury and Craftsmanship seized this opportunity to harness the properties of marble and to express their ideas. With enthusiasm and freshness, encouraged by Jaime Hayon’s prodigious creativity.
These young designers, of different nationalities, visited our industrial facility, recently enriched with avant-garde technological systems. And after observing the application of traditional finishing techniques and artistic processing, they developed an outstanding collection of clocks. In a curious dialogue between diverse geographical backgrounds and cultures.
Among the highlights of the Fuorisalone, during the Milan Design Week from 17 to 22 April 2018, will be a collection of marble clocks presented by Marsotto LAB and ECAL. The clocks were designed by students of the Master in Design for Luxury and Craftsmanship, during a course directed by Spanish designer Jaime Hayon.
